There's no way any of these would get me to recommend a Slingbox over this device.

The Flow does have the "Tivo Series 4" remote information, though, and everything works as desired.Cons:Now, let me begin this section by saying that none of these issues are dealbreakers for me. If you have a Tivo Premiere, Slingbox can control it with a generic controller, but some of the buttons don't do the same thing (clear doesn't delete the show, for example). Plus, Slingbox surprisingly didn't have the remote information for anything past a Series 3 Tivo or Tivo HD. The response time from the remote commands is nowhere near instantaneous, but it's twice as fast as Slingbox. The Flow, however, is working perfectly. Both on Windows and on mobile, the Flow does a great job of controlling my Tivo. The Slingbox failed me, and that's all there is. I don't care what a device is capable of, I care what it does. Add to that the fact that the audio quality on Slingbox's apps is simply unlistenable, in the end the Vulkano Flow effectively has better quality streaming than the Slingbox products. The quality kept shifting from one level to another, causing audio glitches and pauses as it did so, and there was almost never a time when I had a true HD quality stream. However, when I went on vacation, despite having 10Mbps down, the experience was atrocious.

When I had my Pro HD all set up, I was pleased to see excellent quality video from my desktop computer on my network. It was so low res I went out and bought a $250 Pro HD on the spot. The video quality it produces is not HD, but it's FAR superior to what the Slingbox Solo produces, which in my opinion was garbage. In the end, what I get is rock solid performance on my home computer or out and about on my phone or tablet. Here's the thing, GDGT compares this device to the Slingbox Solo. Clearly Monsoon has nobody from Apple on their design team. But in the end, none of that matters. Their website is pretty bad and looks like it was made in 1999, and the product its self costs less than any Slingbox, and the app costs less than half as much! Then, when I received the product, it came in what has to be the ugliest packaging I've seen in years. Plus, it was all very expensive.Because of all that I returned my Slingbox Pro HD and took a chance on the Monsoon Vulkano Flow. To sum up my opinions on those: they're well made and the service works really well, but the experience on my phone/tablet was unusable, and the customer support was nonexistent. I only have a Blackberry so I probably will not try the remote viewing as the screen is quite small (I wish they had a Playbook player.).Where do I begin? Well, a good background for my opinion of this product might be to read my opinions of the Slingbox devices. So far it's working great for me over the wired home network.
These cost $12.99 (which I understand are way cheaper than Slingbox ones, although I don't know that for sure). They also have players for iPhone, iPad, Blackberry and Android.

The setup on the PC took about 10 minutes.

It does not come with any software, you have to go to Monsoon's website and download the player (the PC player is free and about 100MB and they also have a free one for Mac). I picked it up and had it set up yesterday in about 1 hour (wiring took the longest). I ordered it on Tuesday and on Friday the store called to say that it arrived. Is there any advantage to this over the Slingbox?
Service over Internet is crap because I have 512k upload with AcanacĬould this be a price mistake? See Amazon price of $150
