I think I will wait to see what's in 10.5 The biggest step forward in any recent release for me was Frequency EQ (version 9.5 I think) a genuine challenger for some after-market EQs - if you already have fabfilter then you won't care - if you don't, then IMHO, the case for spending £100+ on an additional EQ has now gone! To me the mixer snapshots sound like a great idea but are pointless as they do not save mixer automation along with the snapshots. The new distortion plug in (destroyer?) is very good too. The channel strip changes and presentation are excellent. Auto audio align is a great feature - or it will be when they finish it - it's very hit and miss. (why?) the transport bar is more fiddly than before.
If you use right click a lot then you'll be annoyed as they've removed the context menus. Variaudios 3 really is very good, would be good enough such that I wouldn't buy melodyne today for vocals. But 10 does seem to be a bit flakey and buggy compared to 9.5. The extra features of 10 are great - if you need them - only you can answer that.
